There is little consensus as to what are the Seven Wonders of the World. Perhaps, this is because “wonder,” precisely because it is wonderful, that is, filled with awe and excitement, fights against a label and a box. How can we fit all of the world’s wonder into a list that only has seven spaces? I have experienced more that seven instances of wonder wandering down an urban street here in Louisville: a woman crossing the street with her baby and heading to the bus, two men fighting and stumbling in a front yard, the vivid red color of a young man’s hat, etc.
There is a long tradition of aggregated “wonder” lists dating back to the ancient Greeks. I can understand the desire to enumerate the universe because it seems so big. To make since of the world we try to isolate, name, and categorize “wonder.” But “wonder” falls outside a traditional paradigm. There in lies the rub, as a better writer than me once said.
At Ink Hand Moon Eye we are endeavoring to create a space that cultivates wonder; that considers wonder but does not take from it its mysterious power, and that allows wonder to impact and change our reality.
Wonder comes in different forms. Wonder may be an inquiry into a problem. It may be the joy in seeing an angle of truth and sharing it with a friend. Wonder may be sensing a strong concentration of energy that resonates with our own and draws us into (should I say it) an energetic relationship.
Growing up in Buffalo NY, I have spent a good deal of time at Niagara Falls. From my earliest elementary school field trips to my adult experiences with the falls, I have always felt that the river has drawn me into its current as I walked along its side. I have noticed that some people seem to get caught up in its current and forget their own as they take their own trip over the falls.
As artists it’s easy to get caught in someone else’s current. Rather than seeking a oneness with the falls that would lead to my destruction, I have learned to appreciate a dance with its current; my taking the lead for a while, and then laying back and allowing to be led for a time. I would encourage all those that submit to Ink Hand Moon Eye to establish their own dance with other artists. Dancing together we can be led to different places and make different dances than the ones we would on our own.

Help answer the question about elementary art
What are some good elementary art teaching resource websites?I need some teaching resource websites for projects that I can do with my students this year. Or if you have any good project ideas for grades 1-3. Any advice is helpful. Thank you.
